Mentoring Future Security Generations: Tomorrow’s Security Leaders
Dear ASIS Phoenix Chapter Members,
It is my pleasure to announce that the ASIS International Phoenix Chapter
has been selected by the ASIS International Leadership and Management Practices Council as one of only six chapters to be
part of a mentorship pilot test. This is an honor because we will be able to provide feedback that will help to finalize the
program before it is rolled out to all 225 chapters worldwide
The
mentorship program is designed to promote long term leadership and career development through a one-on-one Mentor/Protégé
relationship. Mentors share their experiences and advice on such topics as career advancement, professional visibility, networking
and overcoming barriers to career success.
· Mentor eligibility requirements include being an ASIS member with a minimum of 5 years management experience. Education,
time in the industry, participation in other mentoring programs and years in leadership positions are also components of the
selection criteria.
· Protégé eligibility
requirements include being an ASIS member with a minimum of 1 year professional security industry experience and must be highly
motivated, committed to advancing their career, and willing to take responsibility for professional development. Please note
that Protégés can be second career professionals or those individuals trying to transition from the public to
the private sector. Protégés are not just limited to individuals that are young in terms of age.
· The commitments are to meet at a minimum of at least
once a month for one year.
In
order to start the pilot test on schedule, I need those of you that are interested in being a Mentor or Protégé
to contact me for further consideration by 12/19/11. A maximum of only six Mentors and six Protégés will be
chosen through a selection process so I encourage those of you that are interested to respond to me right away.
