Wednesday April 19, 2017 luncheon meeting
The speaker is Sergeant Domenick Kaufman of the Mesa Police Department, who will discuss human trafficking issues and enforcement efforts in the Phoenix area.
Sergeant Domenick Kaufman is a 20-year veteran of the Mesa Police Department. As a supervisor at the Mesa Family Advocacy Center, Sgt. Kaufman developed and currently leads Mesa PD’s first Human Exploitation and Trafficking Squad (HEaT Squad), which focuses on rescuing adult and child victims from sex trafficking, arresting pimps/traffickers, and suppressing the demand for prostitution in our community. He is also the Missing Persons Unit supervisor and an active member of the Arizona Child Abduction Response Team.
Sgt. Kaufman's assignments have included Patrol, Police Administration and Investigations. He spent over eight years as a detective assigned to the Major Incident Response Team, investigating several high-profile cases within the Violent Crimes Unit and Homicide. He specializes in the areas of criminal investigations, interview and interrogation, and sex trafficking. He is a certified instructor for the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board, and he has guest-lectured on the topics of Interview and Interrogation, Child Abductions, Death Investigations, and Sex Crimes at a variety of venues, including the Mesa Police Academy, Federal and State agency investigation schools, the Arizona Missing Persons Investigators Association, and Arizona State University College of Law.
Sgt. Kaufman earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Arizona and a master’s degree in public administration from Northern Arizona University.
His presentation correlates with the ASIS Enterprise Security Competency Model's Tier 5 - Industry-Sector Technical Competencies: Government Services; and Tier 4 - Industry-wide Technical Competencies: Investigations, as well as Case Management.
The Phoenix Chapter of ASIS International holds it's monthly meetings on the 3rd Wednesday of each month.
